Cloud Forest Films is an independent production company, built to make great TV, radio and film.

It’s headed up by energetic, reliable and award nominated Producer and Director James Rowat, a passionate storyteller with over two decades of multi-genre programming experience.

In 2025 Cloud Forest Films released a major feature length documentary titled 'Beyond The Horizon' to global film festivals.  Filmed in the South Pacific over a 10 day period, the film has picked up 16 international awards to date, ranging from Best Director, Best Travel Film to Best Documentary Film. 

 

For five years James Series Produced Christmas prime-time family favourite, World’s Strongest Man – which was a ratings record-breaker for the brand on Channel 5.

Recently James was the Series Producer of an award nominated six-part documentary series for Aurora Media, been hired as Edit-Producer on the ATP Tour for the past five seasons, worked for FIFA as part of their Infotainment team for the Qatar World Cup 2022 (and is part of the 2026 production team) and the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia & New Zealand 2023, as well as Producing & Directing six series of Giants Live for Channel 5.

 

James has made innovative content shown in over 100 territories for broadcasters as diverse as BBC One, Channel 4, Channel 5, Dave (UKTV), Sky Sports, Sky One, Discovery Channel, Netflix, CBS, SVT, Sky Mexico, CCTV, TF1, RAI, Universal NBC, ESPN Latin America, Supersport, SBS, SABC, TVRI, Astro Arena, NHK, beIN Sports, BBC Worldwide and many more.
